Itinerary Overview

Day 1: Addis Ababa – Arba Minch

  • Morning drive/fly to Arba Minch.

  • En route visit the Dorze tribe, known for their beehive-shaped huts and weaving.

  • Overnight in Arba Minch.

Day 2: Arba Minch – Konso – Jinka

  • Visit Konso Cultural Landscape (UNESCO World Heritage Site).

  • Continue drive to Jinka.

  • Visit South Omo Museum if time permits.

  • Overnight in Jinka.

Day 3: Jinka – Mago National Park – Mursi Tribe – Turmi

  • Drive through Mago National Park to visit the Mursi tribe, famous for lip plates.

  • Proceed to Turmi, home of the Hamar tribe.

  • Overnight in Turmi.

Day 4: Turmi – Omorate – Dassanech Tribe – Turmi

  • Cross Omo River by boat to visit the Dassanech tribe.

  • Return to Turmi and attend a traditional Hamar bull-jumping ceremony (if available).

  • Overnight in Turmi.

Day 5: Turmi – Karo Tribe – Turmi

  • Excursion to Korcho village to meet the Karo people, masters of body painting.

  • Enjoy scenic views over the Omo River.

  • Return to Turmi for overnight.

Day 6: Turmi – Key Afer Market – Jinka

  • Visit the colorful Key Afer market (Thursdays), frequented by Tsemay, Benna, and Ari tribes.

  • Drive to Jinka for overnight.

Day 7: Jinka – Arbaminch

  • Morning drive back to Arba Minch.

  • Enjoy a sunset boat ride on Lake Chamo to see crocodiles and hippos.

  • Overnight in Arba Minch.

Day 8: Arba Minch – Addis Ababa

  • Return to Addis Ababa by road or flight.

  • Optional souvenir shopping or cultural dinner.
